Brownie Boot Camp

This Saturday seventeen Brownie Girl Scouts from Mercer, Grove City, and Lakeview earned their "Army Pride" Try-It, thanks to the help of SGT Brittany Graeves and SPC Chelsea Perza of the PA Army National Guard. The Scouts learned about famous Girl Scouts in the Army, how to salute, how to safely carry their buddy out of the woods with a sore leg, how to make a litter out of shirts and sticks and their favorite activity of camouflage face painting. The Scouts sampled various MREs and learned the military alphabet after they did some team building activities and tried on some Kevlar.  Special thanks go to SGT Graeves and SPC Perza for doing an outstanding job of being the first soldiers most of these Brownies have ever met. Thank you also to the PA Army National Guard's 28th Signal Battalion in Grove City for letting us visit your armory and to Maureen Conner, co-SUM of the Mercer Area Girl Scouts, for coordinating this program for the Girl Scouts.
