Girl Scouts Volunteer for a Very Special Train Ride

Seven ninth grade Girl Scouts from Mercer Area High School heard a bell on the morning of Wednesday, Dec. 1st, but it wasn't the bell signaling them to change classes.  The bell that girls and their leaders heard was the bell of the Christmas Spirit.

The Scouts and their leaders spent the morning volunteering as Elves at the North Pole stop of the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad's Polar Express for its special daytime trip for children who are battling life treating illnesses or who have disabilities.  While they have completed the 10 hours of service required for the National Park Service Girl Scout Ranger Patch Program, the girls hope to return to the park again next year for this very special event.
